About Me
Jessica Silvetti is a writer and director, whose distinctive voice is a result of her unconventional upbringing. Originally from Mexico City, of Spanish descent and raised in the US, she's been shaped by different cultures and views life through a multicultural and bilingual lens.
She attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she received a BFA in Theatre. After a few years in NYC, she relocated to Los Angeles to merge her love of writing and filmmaking. To date she has written, produced and directed the short films: HAPPY FOR NOTHING, GOODBYE, GLANCES and POOR MAN’S MERMAID, based on the short story by Clay McLeod Chapman; she also co-directed the film, PROBLEM OF EVIL.
Her bilingual web series, LOST MEMORIES, a narrative about Alzheimer’s disease that she wrote and directed, is available online. In November of 2017, Jessica was recognized with a Breaking Boundaries - Visionary Women’s Award for her work on this impacting series, spotlighting Alzheimer’s and the Latino community. IN ABSENTIA, an anthology series she wrote, produced, and directed with her partner and husband, Ethan Kogan, screened at numerous Film Festivals and received several awards and nominations, including a Best Writing nomination at the renowned RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in London, England. The series also received three nominations for the 2018 International Academy of Web Television Awards, including: Best Directing, Best Writing, and Best Drama Series. In 2019 the series was nominated for four Indie Series Awards, including: Best Series and Best Directing.
Silvetti is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors, Chicana Directors Initiative, and Film Fatales.
Jessica is Co-Founder of Light and Shadow Pictures and is constantly developing new projects with a focus on complex characters for women. She wrote for the hit series EL JUEGO DE LAS LLAVES, for Amazon, ViX, and Corazón Films, and recently completed Season 2 of LOST MEMORIES, once again serving as writer and director.
